Hypericum olympicum Form uniflorum (Nomenclature)
Diagnostic description:
Stems erect or rarely decumbent to prostrate, not branched below inflorescence. Leaves 8–15(–20) × 5–10 mm, the upper or all broadly elliptic to obovate (l:b = 1.7–3), acute to subacute, with regular to irregular and sparse black intramarginal glands. Flowers 30-60 mm in diam. Petals golden or pale yellow.
Distribution:
Northeastern Greece (southeastern Makhedonia), southern Bulgaria.
Notes:
There is a trend in habit in forma uniflorum from erect in southern Makedhonia to procumbent or prostrate in Bulgaria. ‘Sunburst’ is a particularly large-flowered form of the Athos population. ‘Citrinum’ is the result of a pale-flowered mutation that seems to occur quite frequently in cultivation. No wild examples have been recorded.
