DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb 0.01–0.2 m long, prostrate to ascending, rooting at base, with stems up to c. 10, spreading, branching at base and occasionally below inflorescence. Stems narrowly 2-lined, eglandular; internodes 2–10 mm, shorter than to equalling leaves. Leaves sessile to subsessile; lamina 2–9 × 1–4 mm, oblanceolate-spathulate or (lower) ± elliptic, concolorous or glaucous beneath, chartaceous, with epidermis undulate or finely papillose; apex rounded to apiculate, margin recurved to revolute, base narrowly cuneate; venation: 1–2 pairs of main lateral veins from lower ¼ of midrib, sometimes branching and reticulating; laminar glands pale, punctiform, mainly distal and often black, 1–2(–c. 8), punctiform, subapical and submarginal; marginal glands black, dense, subregular, usually hidden under revolute margin. Inflorescence 1–8-flowered, usually condensed, from terminal node, sometimes with short flowering branch from lower node; pedicels c. 0.5 mm; bracts and bracteoles narrowly oblong, entire. Flowers 10–13 mm in diam.; buds ovoid-ellipsoid, obtuse. Sepals 5, subequal, free, 3–5 × 1–2 mm, oblong to linear or linear-spathulate, acute to obtuse, entire to subentire; veins 5, unbranched or outer branched; laminar glands pale, basally linear, distally punctiform and sometimes 2 black, subapical; marginal glands black, dense, subapically absent. Petals yellow, red-tinged and -veined, 6–10 × 3–5 mm, obovate-elliptic to oblanceolate, rounded; laminar glands pale, linear to punctiform and occasionally 1(2) black, punctiform; marginal glands black, distal, dense. Stamens c. 40, longest 4–7 mm, c. 0.7 × petals. Ovary 2–2.5 × 1–1.7 mm, ovoid to ellipsoid; styles (3)5, 2.5–3.5 mm, c. 1.25 × ovary. Capsule 3–4 × 2–3 mm, broadly ovoid; valves with 2-4 or more longitudinal vittae sometimes swollen or interrupted. Seeds subfuscous, c. 1.2 mm; testa regularly foveolate.
