DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb, 38–75 mm tall, glabrous, erect from scarcely ascending base, unbranched above base, with sterile shoots spreading. Stems not glaucous, with scattered amber glands almost up to inflorescence, not prominent; internodes c. 20–30 mm, shorter than to exceeding leaves. Leaves sessile, spreading, not glaucous; lamina (main stem) 10–24 × 1–3.5 mm, linear (not ‘runcinate’as in orig. descr.), apex rounded, margin plane to subrevolute, base cuneate to rounded, with laminar glands pale, small, scattered; lamina (axillary and sterile shoots) smaller, narrower, apex rounded. Inflorescence ∞-flowered, from 10–24 nodes, very narrowly cylindric, rather dense, 190–410 mm long, with lateral cymules1–3-flowered, without flowering branches below; bracts and bracteoles narrowly triangular-ovate to triangular-lanceolate (not ‘anguste linear’), without black glands. Flowers c. 16 mm in diam., reflexed after flowering; buds globose. Sepals equal, free to 2/5 united, not imbricate, 2–3 × 1–1.5 mm, oblong to broadly elliptic, obtuse to usually rounded; veins 3; margin distally with regular sessile globose black glands; laminar glands pale, striiform to punctiform. Petals golden? yellow, not red-tinged, c. 8 × 5 mm (not ‘10–12 mm long’), obovate, unguiculate, rounded, distally with sessile black marginal glands; laminar glands pale, punctiform. Stamens c. 35–40, longest c. 6 mm; filaments yellow. Ovary c. 3 × 1.5 mm, broadly ovoid, not rostrate; styles 3 mm, equalling ovary. Capsule 7–8 × 4–6 mm, broadly ovoid-subglobose, not or scarcely rostrate; vittae narrow. Seeds reddish-brown, c. 1.7 mm long.
