DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb, 0.15–0.34 m tall, partly scabrid- or whitish-puberulous, erect, not rooting, branching at base only, with sterile shoots erect from ascending base. Stems scabrid- or whitish-puberulous, eglandular; internodes 10–20 mm, exceeding leaves. Leaves sessile, glaucous, puberulous on both sides; lamina (main shoots) 7–20 × 0.5–2 mm, linear, apex obtusely to acutely mucronate, margin revolute, base cuneate to rounded, 1-veined, with laminar glands pale, small, numerous, marginal glands not seen; lamina (axillary and sterile shoots) smaller, narrower, otherwise similar. Inflorescence c. 6–∞-flowered, from 6–14 nodes, very narrowly triangular to subspicate, rather dense, (50-)70-120 mm long, with lateral ‘cymules’ 1-flowered, rarely with 1–3 flowering branches below; bracts and bracteoles ovate to lanceolate, markedly ribbed below, with apical or subapical black gland. Flowers c. 15–20 mm in diam, with petals reflexed after flowering; buds globose. Sepals subequal to equal, 2/5–1/2 united, not imbricate, 2.5–3.5 × 1–1.5 mm, broadly oblong, obtuse to rounded, not mucronate, puberulous outside; veins 5, prominent, with margin regularly and distally black-glandular-ciliate to -denticulate, glands globose; laminar glands pale, linear, sometimes interrupted. Petals bright golden yellow, not red-tinged, 7–10 × 2.5–4 mm, c. 3 × sepals, obovate to oblanceolate, unguiculate, rounded, distally black-glandular-ciliate to -fimbriate; laminar glands pale, numerous, linear and distally punctiform. Stamens 50–60, longest c. 7 mm; filaments not red-tinged. Ovary c. 1.5 × 1m, broadly ovoid; styles 3.5–5.5 mm, 2–3.5 × ovary. Capsule apparently globose (mature shape not seen). Seeds not seen.
