DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb, (0.1–)0.14–0.28(–0.33) m tall, glabrous to partly whitish-puberulous, erect or decumbent, not rooting, branching at base then not below inflorescence, with sterile shoots prostrate to erect from decumbent base. Stems not glaucous, glabrous or whitish-puberulous, eglandular; internodes 7–15 mm, exceeding to shorter than leaves. Leaves sessile, often glaucous, sometimes papillose-puberulous above; lamina (main shoots) 5–12(–20) × 0.5–1 mm, linear, apex mucronate to piliferous, margin revolute, base cuneate, 1-veined, with laminar glands pale, rather large, numerous, marginal glands pale; lamina (axillary and sterile shoots) smaller, narrower, otherwise similar. Inflorescence 6–c. 20-flowered, from 3–9 nodes, subspiciform, rather dense, (2–)4–10 mm long, with lateral ‘cymules’ 1-flowered, rarely with one flowering branch below; bracts and bracteoles ovate to lanceolate, markedly ribbed below, apex piliferous. Flowers 10–20 mm in diam., with petals reflexed after flowering; buds globose. Sepals subequal to equal, 1/3–2/5 united, not imbricate, 2–3 × 1–1.5 mm, oblong to ovate, subobtuse to acute, usually with gland-tipped mucro or apical hair, glabrous to rugose-puberulous outside; veins 5, prominent, with margin regularly black-glandular-ciliate or with subsessile black globose marginal glands; laminar glands pale, linear to distally striiform to punctiform. Petals rather pale? yellow, not red-tinged, 6–8 × 2–3.5 mm, c. 2.5–3 × sepals, obovate to oblanceolate, unguiculate, rounded, distally black-glandular-ciliate to -fimbriate; laminar glands pale, numerous, linear and sometimes distally punctiform. Stamens c. 50, longest c. 6–7 mm; filaments not red-tinged. Ovary 1–1.5 × 1 mm, subglobose to globose; styles 2.5–3 mm, 2–2.5 × ovary. Capsule 2.5–4 × 2.5–4 mm, globose, not rostrate. Seeds not seen.
