DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb, 0.06–0.15 m tall, partially hirsute, erect or ascending, not creeping or rooting, with short axillary shoots from all nodes below inflorescence. Stems hirsute to hirtellous, slightly 2-lined to terete, red, eglandular or with few scattered (elongate-) punctiform black glands on or near lines; internodes 8–20 mm, exceeding leaves. Leaves sessile, not glaucous, hirtellous to shortly hirsute, (main stem) 5–10 × 0.7–2 mm, linear, apex subacute to rounded, margin revolute, base rounded to parallel, 1-veined; laminar glands pale, scattered, without apical black gland; intramarginal glands pale (obscured by revolute margin); leaves on axillary shoots smaller, sometimes subapiculate. Inflorescence (1–)3–c. 15-flowered, from 1–4 nodes, interrupted-spicate, nodes spaced, with dense nodal clusters, 20–90 mm long, with lateral cymules 1–2-flowered, without flowering branches below; bracts lanceolate to ovate, bracteoles oblong, both entire. Flowers c. 15–20 mm in diam., petals erect after flowering; buds cylindric. Sepals abaxially pubescent, unequal to subequal, free, not or scarcely imbricate, 4–6 × 1.6–3 mm, oblong to spathulate, rounded; veins 7– 9, prominent; margin black-glandular-ciliate except towards base with obconic glands; laminar glands pale, linear and distally subpunctiform. Petals pale? yellow, tinged red?, 10–15 × 3–4 mm, c. 2.5 × sepals, obovate-oblanceolate; marginal glands black, distal to apical, on short cilia, obconic; laminar glands punctiform to shortly striiform. Stamens c. 40, longest 8–10 mm (or longer?), filaments yellow. Ovary ovoid; styles not seen. Capsule 6–7 × c. 3 mm, ovoid. Seeds not seen.
