Hypericum mutilum subsp. latisepalum
Diagnostic description:
Stem with apical internodes well developed, usually longer than that immediately below. Leaves broadly ovate or broadly oblong-ovate to suborbicular, paler beneath. Sepals imbricate, broader above middle. Inflorescence branches from l-4(-6) nodes, with branching diffuse and repeatedly monochasial distally; bracts subulate.
Distribution:
In scattered localities in the coastal plain from New Jersey (fide Fernald) to Florida and west to Texas.
Notes:
Although Fernald records this subspecies from as far north as New Jersey and Webb states that it occurs [south] from South Carolina, I have seen specimens only from Florida and Texas, apart from the Georgian one cited (DeWolf 1403), which tends in inflorescence branching towards subsp. mutilum.
