DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb c. 0.3–0.5? m tall, erect from branching and rooting woody base, with stems solitary or few, caespitose?, sometimes branching from most nodes. Stems slightly 2(4)-lined at first, soon terete, eglandular; internodes 25–35 mm, mostly shorter than leaves. Leaves sessile; lamina 25–42 ×17–27 mm, broadly elliptic (lower) to triangular-lanceolate (upper), paler beneath, chartaceous; apex rounded, margin plane, base shallowly cordate-amplexicaul; venation: 3–4 pairs of main laterals from base and lower 2/5 of midrib; tertiary reticulation dense, scarcely visible above; laminar glands black, rather dense to sparse and sometimes pale, few, all punctiform; intramarginal glands black, dense. Inflorescence c. 20-flowered, dense, from 3 nodes, with branches from 2 nodes below, the whole narrowly pyramidal with branching angle narrow (c. 40°); pedicels 2–3.5 mm; bracts and bracteoles reduced-foliar. Flowers c. 17 mm in diam., stellate to reflexed; buds ovoid to subglobose, obtuse to rounded. Sepals 5, subequal, 3–5 × 1–1.2 mm, oblong to lanceolate, rounded to obtuse, entire; veins 5, branching and reticulating; laminar glands pale, linear and distally few, punctiform, rarely one black, punctiform or elongate; marginal glands absent or sometimes few, black, irregular. Petals 5, golden yellow?, not tinged red, 6–9 × 3–4 mm, c. 2 × sepals, elliptic, rounded, entire; laminar glands pale, linear; marginal glands black, 1–2 or absent. Stamens 40–45, ‘3’-fascicled, longest 6–8 mm, 0.9–1 × petals; anther gland black. Ovary 2–2.5 × 1.5–2 mm, ovoid; styles 3, free, spreading, 4–6 mm, 2–2.2 × ovary; stigmas narrow. Capsule (immature) ovoid. Seeds not seen.
