DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb 0.26–0.4 m tall, erect from woody? base, with stems solitary or few?, sometimes branched below inflorescence. Stems narrowly 2-lined, not becoming terete?, eglandular; internodes 20–30 mm, shorter to longer than leaves. Leaves sessile; lamina 25–40 × 11–23 mm, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, paler beneath, thinly chartaceous; apex rounded to retuse, margin plane, base shallowly cordate-amplexicaul to rounded; venation: 3 pairs of main laterals from base to lower quarter of midrib; tertiary reticulation dense, visible on both sides; laminar glands black, punctiform, sparse to rather dense; intramarginal glands black, dense. Inflorescence c. 10–40-flowered, from 2–4 nodes, ± dense, sometimes with branches from 1–2 nodes below, the whole cylindric to broadly pyramidal; pedicels 2–3 mm; bracts reduced-foliar to lanceolate, bracteoles linear-lanceolate. Flowers c. 15 mm in diam, stellate; buds cylindric-ellipsoid, rounded. Sepals 5, almost equal, 3–5 × 0.9–1.2 mm, narrowly oblong to lanceolate, obtuse to acute, entire; veins 5, occasionally branching and anastomosing; laminar glands all pale to all black, striiform to punctiform; marginal glands black, subregular to very few or absent. Petals 5, bright yellow, not tinged red, 8–10 × c. 3 mm, 2–2.5 × sepals, oblong-elliptic, rounded, entire; laminar glands pale and sometimes also black, linear to punctiform; marginal glands black, few, subapical. Stamens 30–35, ‘3’-fascicled, longest 7–8 mm, 0.8–0.85 × petals; anther gland black. Ovary 2–2.5 mm long, ovoid?; styles 3, free, divaricate, 4–5 mm, c. 2 × ovary; stigmas narrow. Capsule 8–10 × 4 mm, 2–2.5 × sepals, ovoid. Seeds not seen.
