DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb up to c. 0.1 m tall, with stems numerous, slender, ascending to prostrate or dependent but not rooting, branching only at the base or rarely with some stem branches. Stems narrowly 2- or sometimes incompletely 4-lined, eglandular, glaucous; internodes 2–23(–28) mm, shorter than to usually exceeding leaves. Leaves subsessile or up to 0.3 mm petiolate, erect to usually spreading; lamina 5–13 × 1–7 mm, oblong-ovate or oblong to elliptic or linear, usually glaucous, chartaceous; apex rounded, margin entire, base subcordate to cuneate; venation: (2–)3 pairs of main laterals from lower ¼ of midrib, usually unbranched, with dense tertiary reticulation (often not visible); laminar glands all pale or occasionally a few black, rather dense; marginal glands black, sparse, irregular. Inflorescence 1–(2–4)-flowered, from 1 node; pedicels 3–5 mm; bracts and bracteoles reduced-foliar to linear, entire. Flowers (15–)20–25 mm in diam., stellate; buds broadly ellipsoid, rounded to obtuse. Sepals 5, subequal, almost free, 3–6 × 1.5–2.5 mm, narrowly ovate to elliptic or oblong, acute, irregularly glandular-denticulate to subentire with sessile marginal glands; veins 3, unbranched, not prominent; laminar glands black, punctiform to shortly striiform, in (3–)4 rows; marginal glands black. Petals 5, golden yellow, tinged or veined red dorsally, 6–12 × 4–8 mm, obovate, rounded, entire or crenate; laminar glands pale, striiform to punctiform, and distally black, punctiform; marginal glands black, distal, sessile or in crenations. Stamens c. 35–40, longest 7–8 mm, 0.7–0.8 × petals. Ovary c. 3 × 2 mm, ovoid-ellipsoid; styles 5–7 mm, 1.7–2.3 × ovary. Capsule c. 7 × 5 mm, ovoid; valves with glands pale lateral oblique vittae and scattered vesicles. Seeds stramineous?, 1.5 mm; testa ribbed.
