DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb 0.1–0.4 m tall or long, suberect or ascending to decumbent or prostrate, base not or shortly creeping and rooting, with stems caespitose, branching from all or most nodes, the lowermost ones forming stolons. Stems terete or uppermost nodes slightly 2-lined, eglandular; internodes (9–)12–30 mm, shorter to longer than leaves. Leaves sessile to shortly petiolate with petiole to 0.5 mm; lamina (8–)13–25 × (2.5–)4–9 mm, narrowly oblong or elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate, paler beneath, thinly chartaceous; apex rounded to subobtuse, margin plane, base rounded to narrowly cuneate; veins (2)3–4 pairs of main laterals from lower quarter to third of midrib, tertiary reticulation rather lax and obscure, visible beneath only; laminar glands pale and rather large (sometimes proximally with a few smaller black), dense to rather sparse, punctiform; intramarginal glands black, dense. Inflorescence 1–5(–7)-flowered, from 1–2 nodes, with branches from up to 3 nodes below, sometimes also from nodes further down stem, the whole narrowly pyramidal to subcylindric; pedicels 1–3 mm; bracts and bracteoles 5–8 mm, oblong-linear to narrowly lanceolate. Flowers 10–15 mm in diam., substellate; buds ovoid-cylindric, rounded. Sepals 5, unequal, 4–10 × 1.5–5 mm, broadly elliptic or oblong-spathulate to narrowly oblong or lanceolate, rounded to subacute, entire; veins 3–5, branching and reticulating in broad sepals; laminar glands wholly pale or with few black or wholly black, striiform to punctiform; marginal glands black, dense or partly irregular. Petals 5, bright yellow, not tinged red?, 6–8 × 2 mm, 0.8–1.5 × sepals, oblong to elliptic, rounded, entire or with protruding marginal glands; laminar glands black and fewer pale, linear-striiform to punctiform; marginal glands black, mainly distal or around most of margin, prominent or not. Stamens 20–30, ‘3’-fascicled, longest 0.4–0.6 mm, 0.65–0.75 × petals; anther gland black. Ovary 2.5–3 × 2–c. 2.4 mm, broadly ovoid; styles 3(4), free, divergent, 1.4–1.6 mm, c. 0.6 × ovary; stigmas narrow. Capsule 6–7 × 4.5–6 mm, 1.2–1.5 × sepals, broadly ovoid to ovoid-suborbicular; valves longitudinally vittate, sometimes interrupted. Seeds red-brown, 0.8 mm; testa shallowly linear-foveolate.
