DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb 0.6 m tall, erect. Stems with black glands irregularly distributed. Leaves on main stem 15–20 × 5–10 mm, ovate-lanceolate, on lateral stems 10–15 × 3–5 mm, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate; black glands intramarginal and apical, occasionally laminar. Bracts 5–6 mm long, linear-lanceolate, apiculate, auriculate, with black glands marginal, on (sometimes broad-based) cilia. Sepals 5–7 mm long, linear-lanceolate, apiculate to aristate; laminar black glands punctiform to linear; marginal black glands on (sometimes broad-based) cilia. Petals 12–13 mm long, oblanceolate; laminar black glands punctiform and linear; marginal black glands few. Stamens 7–8 mm long; anther gland black. Capsule 7–8 mm long, with longitudinal vittae and oblique vesicles. Seeds c. 1 × 0.5 mm, cylindric; testa greyish yellow, reticulate.
