DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial herb 0.03–0.1 m tall, decumbent, with up to c. 20 stems, caespitose, unbranched below inflorescence. Stems 2-lined, black-gland-dotted, filiform, glabrous, green; internodes 5–10 mm, shorter than to exceeding leaves. Leaves 0.3–0.5 mm petiolate, ± spreading, papillose-puberulous to glabrous, green; lamina 3–11 × 3–5 mm, elliptic-oblong to ovate, concolorous, chartaceous; apex obtuse to rounded, margin plane, ciliate, base cuneate; venation: 2(3) pairs of main laterals from lower third to half of midrib, not obviously branched or reticulating; laminar glands few, pale, scattered and black, near apex and margin; marginal glands black, regular. Inflorescence 1–3(–5)-flowered, from one node, subcorymbiform, without flowering branches below; pedicels c. 3 mm (apical to 6 mm); bracts reduced-foliar to linear, bracteoles linear, with sessile marginal glands. Flowers 15–20 mm in diam.; buds ellipsoid, obtuse. Sepals equal, basally united, 2.5–5 × 0.8–1.5 mm, narrowly oblong, subacute to obtuse, marginal glands sessile; veins 1–3, unbranched; laminar glands black, punctiform to linear; marginal glands black. Petals golden? yellow, not veined red, 7–10 × 3–5 mm, 3–3.5 × sepals, obovate, rounded; lamina glands black, punctiform to striiform; marginal glands absent. Stamens 30–33, longest (5–)6–7.5 mm, c. 0.75 × petals. Ovary 2.5 × 1 mm, narrowly triangular-ovoid; styles 4–4.5 mm, c. 1.8 × ovary. Capsule 6–10 × 3–4 mm, narrowly ovoid; valves with 3 interrupted dorsal vittae and scattered elongate to punctiform lateral vesicles Seeds with testa rugulose-punctate (fide Stefanoff, 1933: 169).
