DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Dwarf shrub, c. 0.08–0.18 m tall, with stems slender, erect to decumbent, branching at base, with branches strict, without short axillary shoots. Stems (3)4-lined, eglandular; internodes 2–9 mm, shorter than to exceeding leaves. Leaves (3)4-verticillate, spreading, 0.5–1 mm petiolate, all glaucous, 4–6 × 0.7–1 mm, narrowly linear, apex obtuse to rounded, margin revolute, base cuneate to parallel, 1-veined; laminar glands pale, sparse above and in an uneven row towards each margin; true intramarginal glands not seen. Inflorescence 1–4-flowered, from one node, (sub)umbellate, rather crowded, without subsidiary branches below; bracts foliar, entire. Flowers 12–15 mm in diam.; buds globose. Sepals equal, basally slightly united, not imbricate, 1–1.2 × 5–6 mm, oblong, rounded; veins 3, not prominent; margin entire, eglandular; laminar glands pale, linear. Petals bright yellow, not tinged red, deciduous, 6–7 × 2–4 mm, c. 6 × sepals, narrowly to broadly oblanceolate; marginal glands absent; laminar glands absent. Stamens c. 35, longest c. 6 mm, about equalling petals, deciduous. Ovary 2 × 1 mm, ellipsoid; styles 3 mm, 1.5 × ovary. Capsule 4–6 × 2–3 mm, narrowly ellipsoid; valves with elongate to globose vesicles. Seeds reddish-brown, c. 1 mm long, cylindric, papillose.
