DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Subshrub 0.15-0.6 m tall, erect, 1-stemmed, with branches erect, from ascending base, lateral, numerous, not naked below. Stems vinous red, 4-lined and ancipitous when young, eventually 2-lined; cortex exfoliating in strips; internodes 4-15(-20) mm long, exceeding leaves. Leaves sessile, appressed at first, eventually spreading; lamina 3-5 x 1-2 mm, oblong to narrowly triangular or hastate, margins incurved, concolorous, subcoriaceous; apex rounded-cucullate, base parallel- sided to rounded, decurrent-amplexicaul (pair forming shallow V), free; basal veins 1(3), unbranched; laminar glands dense, impressed. Inflorescence (2-)5-25-flowered, dichasial/ monochasial, with lateral branches from up to 13 nodes below, the whole very narrowly cylindric to subcorymbiform; primary pedicels 0.5-1 mm long; bracts and bracteoles oblong-linear, incurved. Flowers 7-9 mm in diam., stellate; buds ovoid, acute to obtuse. Sepals 1.5-3 x 0.7-1 mm, unequal, not or scarcely imbricate, outer ovate or rhombic-elliptic to oblong, inner narrowly oblong to oblanceolate, acute to obtuse, cucullate; veins 3-5, all becoming prominent; glands linear. Petals yellow, 4-5 x 1.5-2 mm, 2.5-3.5 x sepals, oblong; apiculus absent; glands linear, distally punctiform. Stamens 50-60, obscurely 5-fascicled, longest 2-2.5 mm long, c. 0.5 x petals. Ovary c. 1 x 0.4 mm, narrowly ovoid; styles 3(4), 1.5 mm long, c. 1.5 x ovary, spreading; stigmas markedly capitate. Capsule 3-4 x 2-3 mm, broadly ovoid to globose, exceeding sepals. Seeds c. 0.5. mm long; testa ribbed-scalariform.
