DIAGNOSTIC DESCRIPTION
Perennial or annual herb with stems up to 0.25 m long, procumbent or ascending to suberect, rooting at lower nodes, branching from near base and forming mats. Stems green, 4- angled, ancipitous above, internodes 5-20 mm long, exceeding leaves. Leaves sessile, spreading, not tetrastichous, persistent; lamina (2-)3-12 x (l.5-)2-6 mm, ovate or elliptic to obovate, plane, not cucullate, veins scarcely prominent beneath and smooth, concolorous, not glaucous, thinly chartaceous; apex obtuse to rounded, margin entire, undulate, base subcordate-subamplexicaul to broadly cuneate, not sheathing, free; basal veins 5(7), branched, tertiary venation dense, obscure; laminar glands dense, not prominent. Inflorescence 1-flowered, pseudo-dichotomous, branching often sympodial and then flowers pseudo-axillary, pedicels 2-4 mm long in fruit; bracts foliar, not reduced. Flowers 5-7 mm in diam., stellate. Sepals 2.5-5 x 1-1.5 mm, unequal, not imbricate, lanceolate or narrowly oblong to narrowly elliptic, subapiculate or obtuse to rounded; veins 3-7, unbranched; glands mainly linear, distally punctiform. Petals pale lemon-yellow or pale apricot-yellow to orange-yellow, not (?) tinged red, 2.5-5.5 x 2-2.5 mm, equalling or slightly exceeding sepals, obovate-oblong; apiculus and glands absent. Stamens 12-15, indistinctly 4-5-fascicled or not grouped, longest 2-4 mm long, c. 0.75 x petals. Ovary 1.2-2 x 1.2-1.5 mm, ellipsoid-subglobose; styles (4) 5, 0.3-0.5 mm long, c. 0.3 x ovary; stigmas narrowly capitate-clavate. Capsule 3-5-5 x 2-5-3-5 mm, cylindric-ellipsoid, obtuse to rounded, c. 1-2 x sepals. Seeds 0.5-0.6 mm long; testa ribbed-scalariform .
