Perennial herb 0.02–0.12 m tall, ascending from wiry base, with stems caespitose, unbranched to branched from base, slender, sometimes rooting, mat-forming. Stems slightly (sometimes incompletely) 2-lined, eglandular; internodes 2–20 mm, shorter to longer than leaves. Leaves sessile to 1 mm petiolate; lamina (1–)5–17 × (1–)3–7 mm, obovate or oblanceolate or oblong-elliptic to elliptic or orbiculate, concolorous, with prominent nerves beneath, sometimes wholly glaucescent, chartaceous; apex rounded, margin plane, base rounded to narrowly cuneate or attenuate; venation: 3 pairs of main laterals from base or lower quarter to half of midrib, branched or not, tertiary reticulation rather dense; laminar glands black and pale, punctiform, dense; intramarginal glands black, dense to irregular. Inflorescence 1–5(–10)-flowered, from up to 4 nodes, sometimes with branches from 4th node below, the whole corymbiform to shortly cylindric, pedicels 1–3 mm; bracts and bracteoles linear, entire. Flowers c. 10–15 mm in diam., stellate, becoming reflexed; buds elliptic-subglobose, rounded. Sepals 5, unequal, 2.5–4 × 1–1.5(–2) mm, oblong, obtuse to rounded, entire; veins 3–5, branched or not; laminar glands black, punctiform to striiform or shortly linear towards base; marginal glands black, irregular or absent. Petals 5, yellow, not tinged red in bud, 5–8 × 2–3 mm, 1.75–2 × sepals, oblanceolate to oblong or obovate, rounded, entire; laminar glands black, punctiform to linear; marginal glands black, few, irregular or absent. Stamens c. 20–40, ‘3’-fascicled, longest 6–7 mm, c. 0.9 × petals; anther gland black. Ovary 1.8–2.5 × 1.5 mm, ovoid; styles 3, free, spreading, 1.5–2 mm, 0.8–0.9 × ovary; stigmas narrow. Capsule 5–7 × 4–5 mm, c. 2 × sepals, ovoid-cylindric. Seeds dark brown, 0.8–0.9 mm; testa reticulate-striate.
